Last July, I recorded an acoustic cover of "Sleeping (In The Fire)" by the heavy metal band W.A.S.P. Exactly one year to the day that my video was originally posted, it was brought to my attention that the original guitarist and co-founder of W.A.S.P. Randy Piper shared it on his social networking sites. To be recognized by a talented, successful musician you grew up listening to is an extremely humbling and rewarding feeling. Click here to watch my version of "Sleeping (In The Fire)" and get a free MP3 download here.
Just posted a live cover video of Alanis Morissette's "Hand In My Pocket" from my show last week at Broadway Grille & Pub! I have loved this song ever since third grade. Thanks for watching! ❤
Thank you to the team at Brazil-based Hell Yeah Store! for the sweet article about my newest video. Click here to check it out!
"Melissa was on the homepage of YouTube today when I entered... I clicked on the video already imagining it would be
good, but I was surprised even more. Voice and piano, but with much production: flowers, cupcakes, and a romantic white dress...
Because of a random comment there in the video, I realized something. Melissa is the perfect mix of
Lana Del Rey and Lady Gaga. If you enjoy both, you must like the sound of Melissa as well."
-- Taísa & Diana, Hell Yeah Store!
Thanks so much to everyone who came out to my show last night at Broadway Grille & Pub! Hope you had an enjoyable evening. I'll be back on August 16th!

After seeing "The Great Gatsby" this summer, I fell in love with this beautiful song by Lana Del Rey and decided to cover it and pay homage to one of my favorite scenes from the movie. I recorded it live using the string sound on my Yamaha keyboard and then went back and had my drummer Tyler add percussion. Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching! Download a free MP3 here.

Last week I posted a new cover video of POP ETC's "Speak Up". I've been pretty obsessed with this song since I heard it on the Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack, so I decided to put the piano aside temporarily and record my first video playing acoustic guitar. Hope you enjoy my version and thanks for watching!
Just wanted to say a quick thanks for the kind words and messages I've been receiving about my cover video of W.A.S.P.'s "Sleeping (In The Fire)" that I posted last summer. This song has been a favorite of mine since I was a little girl and it means a lot to hear all of your thoughts on my version. Written by W.A.S.P. lead singer/guitarist Blackie Lawless, it is such a beautiful, haunting song with a touching melody that certainly has been an influence on my own musical style. Here's the video again if you'd like to watch it!
Been spending lots of long, exhausting hours in the studio lately working on new music and creating new videos! Can't wait to share everything with you. Stay tuned! ❤
Thank you to Donna Mair at nightMair Creative for the honest and well-written commentary on my EP "Stars In My Eyes"! Check out the review in its entirety here!
"Alternative Pop artist/songwriter Melissa VanFleet may have stars in her eyes, but unlike many other young artists starting
out, Melissa already sounds like a seasoned pro, both musically and lyrically. Not many women singers hold our attention
these days–many have the pipes to do the job but lack the depth and resonance–that warm buttery tone of voice that endears us
to listen again and again. Honesty is the one word that we keep coming back to with VanFleet’s tunes– honesty of writing, of
emotion, of effort. This may be Melissa’s debut album, but this is no ‘beginner’ offering. The fabulous
writing is matched by equally fabulous melodies and solid production to make this
album a joy to listen to. Over and over."
